(color:purple)["What? Why?"]
(color:#00520C)["I need sleep. I'll do it later."]

It was 5 o'clock in the morning. Gregory had been working most of the night trying his best to finish the last of a game he'd been working on. It wasn't the best game in the world, but it was his game, and he was proud of it. Gregory decided to try and go back to bed. It didn't take long until he realized he was wide awake. He then starting calling other people.
*RING RING RING RING*
(color:orange)["Gregory why are you calling me so early."]
(color:purple)["Hey Jacob! I finished the game!"]
(color:orange)["Oh good job man. Hey I'll play it as soon as I can."]
(color:purple)["Why can't you do it now?"]
(color:orange)["Because I have I life too, a life that unfortunately doesn't involve playing video games whenever I want. I have a morning routine."]
(color:purple)[//sigh// "B'alright. Call me when you start playing it, it's a big deal. I haven't even played the finished product. I wanted y'all to be the first."]
(color:orange)["That very cool. I will. Bye."]
(color:purple)["Bye."]

He called more people, but got similar answers. They were either too busy or too tired. Some of them didn't even answer. Gregory decided to watch Youtube until he had to go to work. He started to wonder if the big youtubers would ever play his game. //Why would they care about a simple platformer?//, he thought.
After watching youtube for several hours, Gregory got ready for work. He was almost made late by wanted to watch the rest of "I say Fo 'Shizzle 1,000,000 times." He finally left his basement, got in the car, and went on his way.
Not long later, Michael decided to check out the game. It only took him 20 minutes to get out of bed. He lazily brushed his teeth and went to get a snack. He sat down at his desk and went to the link Gregory sent him. He then downloaded the game. He tried the call Gregory.
*RING RING RING RING*
*BEEP*
Gregory wouldn't answer his phone. Curiosity got the better of him and Michael decided to start playing it anyway. Everything seemed to be well put together. Michael started playing the first few levels. They were easy but slowly got harder. Michael thought the game was good, but was a little bummed out that this is all it was. It was just like every other platformer out there. Soon Michael found a bug. There was a glitched sprite in the floor that wasn't meant to be there. Michael got a notebook and wrote it down. He then walked over the glitched floor and fell through it. The game freaked out. It kept flashing white as if it wanted to give him a seizure. The player was obviously not supposed to die there. After a little bit of this, Michael started feeling weird. He started to think he was actually getting a seizure or something. He tried to look away, but couldn't. He couldn't move. He couldn't even close his eyes. He had no choice but to stare at the screen.
*RING RING RING RING*
*BEEP*
Gregory's shift was over and he was now trying to call Michael. He saw he had a missed call. Michael must've wanted to play the game eariler. He tried calling again. No luck. *All well,* Gregory thought, *not my fault his communication is garbage.* Gregory started driving home.
Staring at the phone, Michael didn't know what to do. (color:#00520C)["I can't tell him,"] Michael said to himself, (color:#00520C)["but I need to tell //someone//."] Michael picked up the phone and called Jacob.
*RING RING RING RING*
(color:#00520C)["Jacob?"]
(color:orange)["Hey, how's it going?"]
(color:#00520C)["Have you played the game yet?"]
(color:orange)["Gregory's game? No I kinda forgot, but I'll play it tonight."]
(color:#00520C)["NO! You can't."]
(color:orange)["Why not?"]
(color:#00520C)["I need you to come to my house, I need to show you something."]
(color:orange)["Just tell me, why do I have to drive all the way there just so you can show something to me."]
(color:#00520C)["Because if I tell you on the phone you won't believe me."]
(color:orange)["Just tell me."]
(color:#00520C)["Let's just say, Gregory has taken VR to a whole new level."]

Due to just starting this project, I'm not sure if this is something I'm going to continue.

[[Prelude|0_1]]
Act 1
[[Chapter 1 coming soon|1_1]]
More coming soon, maybe,
idk yet.
(color:purple)[Made by Glitchy(Gregory) using //Twine//
This is parallel project to "Shattered"
This is not a game, but more of a story.
The story of the world of Shattered both before and after the events of the game itself.
This //WILL// contain spoilers for the game.
Before I wanted to make the game, this idea was meant to be an animation series. Once I knew I wanted to make a game, it wasn't until a while later when I had the idea to make this story a game. However, the game is just one slice of the full story. This is still meant to be a series. Until I do so, a semi-interactive novelette will do.
The funny thing is, I kinda dislike writing. But this is kinda fun.]
[[Back|Delete Message?]](color:orange)["Michael, are you sure that's what happened?"]
(color:#00520C)["Why would I lie?"]
(color:orange)["Just seems kinda....impossible...you know?"]
(color:#00520C)["I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED I SWEAR!"]
(color:orange)["You don't need to yell at me."]
Jacob was fighting with Michael at his house. Jacob was starting to wonder what drugs could Michael be on for him to concoct such a wild story...
(color:#00520C)["If you don't believe me, play the game yourself."]
(color:orange)["I will."]
Jacob sat down and unpaused the game.
(color:#00520C)["Go into that glitched floor tile."]
(color:orange)["Fine. Oh wow look at Micheal, he found a glitch in a game. Now he's sniffed too much Flex-Glue and can only see marti-"]
The game started flashing.
(color:orange)["Oh crap that hurts my eyes."]
(color:#00520C)["Stare at it."]
(color:orange)["You're crazy."]
(color:#00520C)["Just do it."]
Later that night, Gregory was getting worried. He hadn't heard back from anyone yet. When he got back home, he washed up and hung around the house. Finally, he got a call.
*RING RING RING*
(color:purple)["Michael, where've you been."]
(color:#00520C)["Sorry something came up."]
(color:purple)["Did you get to check out the game?"]
(color:#00520C)["Uhhhhhhh..."]
There's a long pause.
(color:#00520C)["Yeah...I started it. I tried calling before but you didn't answer."]
(color:purple)["Sorry, my phone was turned off. I was about to start the game myself, just to make sure I didn't miss anything. Did you find any bugs?"]
(color:#00520C)["Nope, also I didn't get to play much of it. Could you hold off on playing it until I finish it?"]
(color:purple)["Uh ok? Why?"]
(color:#00520C)["You wanted me to be the first to play it. And I haven't truly gotten to play it yet."]
(color:purple)["Oh ok, let me know as soon as you finish it."]
(color:#00520C)["I will, I love it so far."]
(color:purple)["Alright. Bye."]
(color:#00520C)["Bye."]

(color:#00520C)["We can't tell him about this. Right?"]
(color:orange)["No way."]
(color:#00520C)["But he'll find out soon enough."]
(color:orange)["I know."]
(color:#00520C)["So what do we do?"]
(color:orange)["I'll figure it out."]
[[End of Prelude|Delete Message?]](color: lime)["I had a dream, which was not all a dream.
The bright sun was extinguish'd, and the stars
Did wander darkling in the eternal space,
Rayless, and pathless, and the icy earth
Swung blind and blackening in the moonless air;
Morn came and went—and came, and brought no day,
And men forgot their passions in the dread
Of this their desolation; and all hearts
Were chill'd into a selfish prayer for light:
And they did live by watchfires—and the thrones,
The palaces of crowned kings—the huts,
The habitations of all things which dwell,
Were burnt for beacons; cities were consum'd,
And men were gather'd round their blazing homes
To look once more into each other's face;
Happy were those who dwelt within the eye
Of the volcanos, and their mountain-torch:
A fearful hope was all the world contain'd;
Forests were set on fire—but hour by hour
They fell and faded—and the crackling trunks
Extinguish'd with a crash—and all was black.
The brows of men by the despairing light
Wore an unearthly aspect, as by fits
The flashes fell upon them; some lay down
And hid their eyes and wept; and some did rest
Their chins upon their clenched hands, and smil'd;
And others hurried to and fro, and fed
Their funeral piles with fuel, and look'd up
With mad disquietude on the dull sky,
The pall of a past world; and then again
With curses cast them down upon the dust,
And gnash'd their teeth and howl'd: the wild birds shriek'd
And, terrified, did flutter on the ground,
And flap their useless wings; the wildest brutes
Came tame and tremulous; and vipers crawl'd
And twin'd themselves among the multitude,
Hissing, but stingless—they were slain for food.
And War, which for a moment was no more,
Did glut himself again: a meal was bought
With blood, and each sate sullenly apart
Gorging himself in gloom: no love was left;
All earth was but one thought—and that was death
Immediate and inglorious; and the pang
Of famine fed upon all entrails—men
Died, and their bones were tombless as their flesh;
The meagre by the meagre were devour'd,
Even dogs assail'd their masters, all save one,
And he was faithful to a corse, and kept
The birds and beasts and famish'd men at bay,
Till hunger clung them, or the dropping dead
Lur'd their lank jaws; himself sought out no food,
But with a piteous and perpetual moan,
And a quick desolate cry, licking the hand
Which answer'd not with a caress—he died.
The crowd was famish'd by degrees; but two
Of an enormous city did survive,
And they were enemies: they met beside
The dying embers of an altar-place
Where had been heap'd a mass of holy things
For an unholy usage; they rak'd up,
And shivering scrap'd with their cold skeleton hands
The feeble ashes, and their feeble breath
Blew for a little life, and made a flame
Which was a mockery; then they lifted up
Their eyes as it grew lighter, and beheld
Each other's aspects—saw, and shriek'd, and died—
Even of their mutual hideousness they died,
Unknowing who he was upon whose brow
Famine had written Fiend. The world was void,
The populous and the powerful was a lump,
Seasonless, herbless, treeless, manless, lifeless—
A lump of death—a chaos of hard clay.
The rivers, lakes and ocean all stood still,
And nothing stirr'd within their silent depths;
Ships sailorless lay rotting on the sea,
And their masts fell down piecemeal: as they dropp'd
They slept on the abyss without a surge—
The waves were dead; the tides were in their grave,
The moon, their mistress, had expir'd before;
The winds were wither'd in the stagnant air,
And the clouds perish'd; For Darkness had no need
Of aid from them—
He was the Universe.]
